Pangea Media, the leader in online quizzes and quiz technology, has released the results of its latest “Pangea Pulse,” which tracks the attitudes and preferences of its users.

The latest Pangea Pulse tracked the buying preferences of tweens/teens in light of the back-to-school season. While most respondents said their purchases would be focused on basic school supplies, 41% said they planned to add new fashion pieces to their wardrobe this back-to-school season and 30% said they would like to buy a new computer. Larger discount retail stores like Target and Wal-Mart are the preferred places to shop (65%), rather than online marketplaces like Amazon.com, which received only a 2% vote.

When asked how they will finance their back-to-school spending, the majority of respondents (73%) said their parents will be paying for all their back-to-school purchases this year. 40% of those surveyed said they do not receive an allowance and 50% did not know if the slowing economy would impact their spending habits.

Most (75%) believe that the price of gas will not have an impact on how they get to school, with 43% of respondents utilizing public transit and 40% will be driven to school by parents, siblings or friends. Pangea Pulse results are based on responses to quizzes taken at Quibblo.com.
